Working with insurance claims
Viewing and editing Fluffy's insurance claims can be done via the insurance policy claims page.
How to bring up the insurance policy claims page:
- Click on the "Insurance" button on the bottom toolbar.
- Click on the "Claims" tab.
See Working with policy information" for a descriptive explanation of the outline view table and the "Policy Log" text view, particularly how the provider and policies are organized.
Adding, editing, deleting and sorting records from the tables follows from Working with tables.
How to add a policy claim:
- Add a provider if it has not been added. To do so, follow Mac conventions for adding outline view parent nodes. Decide and perform either of the below actions:
- To add the new provider to the utmost end of the provider list, first ensure that all rows are deselected by clicking on a non-occupied row in the outline view.
- To add the new provider below another provider, collapse the target provider and select it.
- Expand the policy list in the outline view by clicking on disclosure triangle next to the relevant provider, if the list is not yet visible.
- Add a policy if it has not been added. To do so, decide and perform either of the below actions:
- To add the new policy to the top of the provider's policy list, expand the provider and select it.
- To add the new policy above another policy, select the targetted policy.
- With the relevent policy selected in the outline view, add the date of the claim in the "Claims" tab view by clicking the "+" button below the "Claim Date" table and editing the new row.
- With the relevent claim date selected, update the "Claim Log" textview.
- With the relevent claim date selected, add the list of claim detail for that date by clicking the "+" button below the lower right table and editing the new claim detail rows.
After the lengthy description on how to add a policy claim, the author trusts you can easily infer the "How to edit a policy claim" and "How to delete a policy claim" sections which she will happily omit. It is simple. Just select the related rows, expanding the relevent outline view rows if required and simply editing the row or clicking the "-" button below its table to delete it.
Each commit is preceded by appropriate sanity checks, as listed below:
- If the string value of "Reason" is changed, Fluffy's Log checks that the new value is non-empty.
- If Fluffy's Log refuses to move on from the textfield when an attempt is done to change either "Claim Date" or "Incident Date", it means that you have tried a non calendar date.
